International Year One: for progression to the 2^nd year of a bachelor’s degree in England

How to apply to UK courses

We’ve made the UK university application process simple, with 4 stages:

Complete the application form, and send this to us with your supporting documents. Our staff or your Kaplan representative can give you guidance on anything you need.
We’ll review your application, and if it’s successful, we’ll send you an offer to study with us.
Accept your offer by completing and returning the offer acceptance form, and by either paying your deposit (the 1st instalment of your tuition fee) or sending your financial guarantee (if you’re a sponsored student). You can also book your accommodation at this stage.
Finally, once you have completed step 3, and satisfied all conditions of your offer (if there are any), we’ll send you confirmation documents and a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) statement. This will allow you to apply for a student visa.

Costs of studying a pathway course in the UK

Studying in the UK is a big investment, so you need to plan ahead. As well as your pathway course tuition fees, you’ll need to consider your university tuition fees, and other expenses such as accommodation, course books and student insurance.

You must also have at least £1,015 for each month of your UK pathway course (or £1,265 per month if your pathway course is in London) to cover living expenses, up to a maximum of 9 months, plus funds to cover any unpaid tuition fees.

This must be held in a recognised bank account for at least 28 days before you apply for your Tier 4 (General) student visa. The links below can tell you more about tuition fees and other costs for our pathway colleges in the UK.

Supporting documents

For a complete application, you need to send a few extra documents with your application form. These include:

• copies of your passport and any previous UK visas
• UKVI IELTS certificate
• academic transcripts (plus certified translations if the original transcripts aren’t in English)

You can still apply without all these items, and submit them later.
When to apply

We have multiple intakes each year, which often gives you flexibility on when you can start your pathway course. We recommend, however, that you apply at least a few months in advance of when you want to start. This will give you enough time to prepare your visa application, reserve your accommodation and get ready for your trip.
Study offers

If your application to study with us is complete and successful, once our Admissions team receives it, they will issue a study offer within 1 working day. There are 2 types of offer:

• Unconditional: there are no conditions you need to meet, or extra documents you need to send
• Conditional: you need to meet certain conditions, and / or send extra documents, so we can fully accept your application

If your application is not successful, we can look at alternative or more suitable study options for you based on your qualifications and circumstances.
Paying for your course

In many cases, you can pay for your UK study package using Flywire, our secure online payment portal. Alternatively, you can pay via bank transfer. Find out more about paying for your course.
Insurance

You’ll need to be fully covered by student insurance for all of your pathway course in the UK. We can offer you a comprehensive policy in partnership with Endsleigh, a leading insurance provider. Find out more on our insurance page.
Scholarships

To help with the cost of studying abroad, we offer partial tuition fee scholarships for pathway courses, and have progression scholarship agreements with many of our partner universities. You can find more details on our scholarships page.
Students under 18

If you are under 18 years old, you’ll need a legal guardian while you study in the UK until you reach 18. This is something we can help arrange – see our guardianship services provider website for more information.
