If you are planning to apply or have already accepted an offer to study with us, find answers to common questions about paying for your studies in the UK or US.
UK payment information
-
Application and administration fees
It’s free to apply to a pathway course with Kaplan in the UK – we do not charge an application fee.
If you receive and accept an offer to study with us, you will generally be charged a £200 administration fee, which you need to pay as part of your deposit (find more information about deposits below).
-
Deposits and when to pay
Typically, you need to pay a deposit to confirm your place with us. This deposit includes part of your tuition fees, as well as a £200 administration fee and an insurance fee (where applicable).
When you receive a study offer, you will also receive an invoice that tells you the remaining amount that you need to pay towards tuition and other items. Please refer to your invoice for details of what you need to pay.
Because we have regular intakes throughout the year, there’s no set time by which you need to pay your deposit. When we have received your deposit you’ll be able to enrol for the next available intake.
Once you have paid your deposit, the portion of it that goes towards your tuition fees will be deducted from the overall cost left to pay. So, for example, if your total tuition fees are £20,000 and your tuition fee deposit is £5,000, the remaining amount you need to be pay would be £15,000.
-
Where to find your invoice
Your invoice will be sent to you when your offer is issued. You will also be able to access your invoice through the Online Payment Portal, for which you should receive your login details a few days after your offer is issued.
If you have not received your invoice within 4 working days of receiving your offer, please contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
-
Paying for accommodation
If you want College-arranged accommodation, you can inform us and pay a holding fee (typically £1,000) at the same time as your deposit. This will help to secure accommodation with Kaplan alongside your place on your course.
-
Early payment discounts
Early payment discounts may apply at certain times of the year. Contact your agent or Market Manager for details of any early payment discounts available.

Ways to pay
We accept payments through bank transfers or through our secure Flywire payment portal. You can make a payment in your home currency that Flywire will process at wholesale exchange rates that traditional banks cannot match.
Your offer letter will include details of how to log in to our payment portal and make payments through the Flywire website.
-
Credit card fees
Kaplan will not charge you additional fees if you pay using a credit card. Your fees are due in GBP (£), so your card provider may charge for foreign transactions – please check with them. If you pay through our secure online payment facility at Flywire, bank and merchant fees are included in the amount charged.
-
Refunds
You will receive a refund for your tuition deposit and insurance payment if you get a visa refusal, but you will not be refunded the administration fee.
For our full refund policy, please see the terms and conditions.
US payment information
-
Application and administration fees
We do not charge a fee to apply. Some US universities advertise a non-refundable application fee, but this is waived for students who apply through Kaplan.
If you accept an offer of a place in the Global Pathways program, you will be charged a fee of $150 to cover courier costs and bank charges during the admission process. It is payable with your deposit.
Kaplan does not charge this fee to students who are admitted to other US programs, including direct entry.
-
Deposits and when to pay
Most applicants must pay a deposit within 30 days of receiving their offer or before the I-20 deadline (whichever is sooner) to confirm their place.
Deposit amounts vary from $100 to $3,000, depending on the program. This deposit includes part of your tuition costs and, where applicable, the additional fee to cover courier costs and bank charges.
Once you have paid your tuition deposit it will be deducted from the tuition for your overall study package. So, for example, if your total tuition cost is $25,000 and your tuition deposit is $3,000, the remaining amount you need to pay for tuition would be $22,000. Payment of the remaining may be spread out over the duration of the program on a semester/quarter basis.
The remaining tuition must be paid 30 days prior to or at enrollment. You will receive an updated invoice that tells you the outstanding amount that you need to pay towards tuition and any extra items. Please refer to your invoice for details of what to pay and when.
If you have an offer for entry directly to a master’s degree at Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies, you do not need to pay a tuition deposit but must instead confirm your intention to enroll.
-
Where to find your invoice
Your invoice will be sent to you when your offer of a place is issued. If you have not received your invoice within 4 working days of receiving your offer, please contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you will be studying at Northeastern University, find out where to find your invoice.
-
Paying for housing
If you want accommodation arranged by Pathways or the University, you can make this known when you pay your deposit. This will help to secure your housing alongside your place in your program. Housing will not be reserved until payment has been received in full. Housing availability, fees and payment schedules can then be confirmed with you.
US university student accommodations often include a mandatory “meal plan” cost.
