Arizona State University student services

Update for fall 2020 intakes: students who are unable to join their program in person can begin their ASU studies in a digital format.

With Arizona State University, you’ll have the support of an expert international admissions team for counseling and advice during the application process, and dedicated international student services after you arrive on campus.

Orientation week

During International Student Orientation Week, you’ll get an introduction to the ASU campus, staff and helpful resources for your studies and social life. We’ll share tips on adjusting to American culture, making the most of academic advising sessions, and how to open a US bank account. There are also fun events and activities to welcome you to campus, from pool parties to cultural festivities.

Housing and meals

Enjoy the convenience and impressive amenities of ASU’s modern on-campus student accommodations. These active student communities provide a safe and secure home during your studies. ASU also has over 50 dining venues across its 5 campuses, offering meals from many different cuisines. Housing and meal costs

Features of ASU housing

  • Guaranteed for all first-year undergraduate students.
  • Close to classes, services and dining locations
  • On-site staff available at all times
  • Fully furnished rooms and community spaces
  • Cost includes water, electricity, cable and internet

First-year undergraduate students are guaranteed housing on the campus that hosts their major, in a residence hall with others who share their academic or career interests.

ASU-USA Pathways students can apply to live in one of two residence halls on the West campus: Casa de Oro or Las Casas. Since housing is limited and is not guaranteed, you are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

Graduate and transfer students can apply for apartment-style housing on any campus. Housing is limited on each campus and is not guaranteed.

Off-campus housing options include university-recommended apartment complexes near your campus. Pathways and English preparation students can also choose to live in a “homestay” with a local host family — a great way to practice English and immerse yourself in American culture!

Academic support

At ASU, you’ll have lots of resources to help you succeed in your university studies. The International Students and Scholars Center hosts workshops where you can learn tips for US academic study, while the University’s Academic Success Programs offer peer-to-peer tutoring in a variety of subjects, writing help, and advice for developing your academic skills.

I met with an ASU career advisor before any interview. They prepare you according to the actual position you're applying for, and ask you to talk about how your experience fits with the specific job description. If you can't answer that, then you know you have more work to do. They really helped me a lot.

I have a world-class student advisor, who has been very helpful in ensuring that my stay in America is comfortable. ASU provides a platform for each student to learn and grow, but most lessons are best felt and acquired outside the classroom. I am proud and happy to be part of the ASU community.

Career and professional development

ASU provides resources and tools to help international students pursue their dream careers. With the help of career services, you can start your path to a successful career with 1:1 mentorship and career guidance. Career advisors will help you develop your résumé, practice interview skills and understand appropriate business communication and networking in the USA.
