Anshuman from The University of Tulsa

Anshuman from Kuwait

Studied a bachelor's in Accounting and Finance at The University of Tulsa

At orientation, I met lots of people, and that’s played a big part in enjoying my time at TU. The University works hard to welcome students from around the world. Moreover, professors make a genuine effort to get to know you.

Malaysian student at The University of Tulsa

Shazni from Malaysia

Studied a bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering at The University of Tulsa

When I was at TU, I was involved in quite a few organizations, such as the Malaysian Students Association, Association of International Students, and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. Through these I acquired the leadership skills that now serve me well in my career at PETRONAS.

Orientation week

Our week-long new student orientation will help you get off to the best start possible. You’ll meet key faculty and staff mentors, and learn about important campus organizations and resources. As an international student, you can attend a 2-day session designed especially for you, where we’ll help you adjust to a US university. There’s also plenty of time for having fun: activity retreats, scavenger hunts, and an outdoor dance party, just to name a few!

Transition to university

After you’ve settled in, you’ll gain even more skills for a successful transition to university life. During the fall semester, you can attend a 6-week fall leadership program for 1st year TU students. Orientation leaders host weekly sessions that include presentations and workshops, prize giveaways and free lunches. It’s a great way to get to know other students and campus leaders.

Social activities

There are lots of activities and programs to help you make the most out of your college experience. You can join planned excursions to the surrounding area, meet with an American conversation partner, and participate in the many events on campus that celebrate our multicultural student body. There are so many fun ways to take part in TU’s community!

Academic and career support

At TU, you’ll have access to lots of services for academic support. These include group workshops, individual counselling and one-on-one tutoring for any of your classes. Expert advisors will help you identify your career options, craft your résumé, practice for interviews, and make the most of on-campus job fairs.

Accommodations

You’ll get to know other students by living in one of TU’s modern on-campus student residence halls, and by sharing meals in the University dining halls. Since everyone lives on campus during their first 2 years, you’ll find a very active and supportive student community.
